USB serial device (GPS w/ PL2303) shows up in lsusb output, but won't enumerate as /dev/ttyUSB0

Hi! When I plug in my GPS, and run lsusb, I see this which is correct:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port
however, I don’t see a device in the output of “ls /dev/tty*”
When I restart the container, it does return and look as you would expect (see below).
SO is there any way to trigger/force the enumeration and make the system look for my GPS/Serial?

BTW I’ve noticed this happens with my attached USB audio codec as well, but only once a while.

Thank you.

Hi there, issue noted. Could you please check the “Working with Dynamically Plugged devices” section on this page:

which suggests to check the following for your container-

  1. ‘udevd’ is enabled for your container, in the dockerfile or through an environment variable;
  2. your container is being run as ‘privileged’

I think its worth checking these before we progress! Thanks
