I have found the answer in another forum thread: [Upate superuser password - #8 by dfunckt](https://forums.balena.io/t/upate-superuser-password/4738/8)

> Edit `'./config/activate'` and change the `OPENBALENA_SUPERUSER_PASSWORD` variable to the new password. Then recreate the API container with:
> 
> ```auto
> ./scripts/compose kill api
> ./scripts/compose rm -vf api
> ./scripts/compose up -d api
> 
> ```
