Migration request: Jetson AGX Orin Devkit 64GB from 7.0.3+rev1 to 7.9.4+rev1

Hello,

We would like guidance and any required custom balenaOS image or migration steps to migrate our Jetson AGX Orin Devkit 64GB devices from balenaOS 7.0.3+rev1 to 7.9.4+rev1.

This is similar to the migration previously handled under Request #6520, which covered migration from 5.3.21+rev3 to 7.9.4+rev1.

Could you confirm whether a direct HostOS update is supported and provide the recommended procedure and prerequisites?

Hi @JoaoRodrigues I don’t believe any special migration or steps are required, it should just be a direct HostOS update. I have asked internally just to double check as I can’t verify myself since I don’t have the hardware. 7.9.4+rev1 should still have the same Major Jetpack version, so I can’t imagine there will be issues. When moving onto balenaOS 8.0, the Orin family was updated to jetpack 7.2, so there you will need to adapt your applications to handle the change. If you have a development/lab device, I would just run the OS update and test it, we encourage this behaviour for everyone, because its not always easy to predict how an OS update will land and interact with your specific app and setup.

I just performed a direct host OS update from balenaOS 7.0.3+rev1 to 7.9.4+rev1 on an AGX Orin DevKit 64GB and it worked just fine. It does include a minor Jetpack version update from 6.2.1 to 6.2.2, so you should test your application just to be safe.
