Google cloud storage uploads extremely slow in raspberrypi3 container

Hello,
My file uploads to Google Cloud Storage from within a raspberrypi3 are extremely slow.
I am not experiencing any errors and memory usage seems to be stable.
The upload runs perfectly, and is very fast on my laptop.
I ran system diagnostics but not sure what to look out for.
Any help/tips would be appreciated.

Thanks
Ralph

Hey @ask4ralph did you check what the CPU usage was like within your container when the uploads were running?

Hi @chrisys thanks for your response.
I see the container cpu utilization is over 100%

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
1 root 20 0 426936 184240 9888 S 362.5 18.4 197:47.30 java
14 root 20 0 5208 2932 2692 S 0.0 0.3 0:00.12 bash
75 root 20 0 5216 3020 2672 S 0.0 0.3 0:00.16 bash
85 root 20 0 5112 2252 1984 R 0.0 0.2 0:00.07 top

That’s what I had feared, so it’s a bottleneck due to the low performance of the Pi CPU (in comparison to your laptop). I’ve not personally tried using Google Cloud Storage before so don’t know what sort of performance you can expect when running the client on a Pi. The next thing I’d check is if it runs OK outside of a container (e.g. on Raspbian OS) to work out if that’s having any adverse effect.
