Hi, I will report on the behavior of dtoverlay on BalenaOS 2.82.10 (latest). I’m using i2c3 by appending `dtoverlay=i2c3,pins_4_5` at the bottom of config.txt on BalenaOS 2.75.0. On this version, /dev/i2c-3 properly appears. When I tried to upgrade it to BalenaOS 2.82.10 on the same RasPi 4B board, /dev/i2c-3 did not appear. Are there any modification related to dtoverlay behavior between 2.75.0 and 2.82.10? ---

Hi @cota, and welcome! I have passed this info over to our OS team for investigation, but I’d like to get some more data in the meantime. Can you share the config.txt file you use for both 2.75 and 2.82, so we can compare them? (I understand they might actually be the same). And further, can you grab a log for us from each, showing the overlay as active (I suppose `ls -al /dev` would work) on each of the OS’es, 2.75 and 2.82, so we can again compare? Thanks! ---

I had the same issue when I upgraded to 2.82.10. Mine appears as “i2c5,pins\_12\_13” on the balena device configuration dashboard, and appears as `dtoverlay=i2c5,pins_12_13` in config.txt. `ls -al /dev` output for `balenaOS 2.80.5+rev1` (includes Hi, we have now identified this as a problem with the v2.82.10 release that affects the RPI4 (see [Device tree overlays not working in \>= 2.82.10+rev1 for aarch64 device types · Issue #695 · balena-os/balena-raspberrypi · GitHub](https://github.com/balena-os/balena-raspberrypi/issues/695)) . We are already integrating a fix and we should have a new release available shortly. We will update this ticket once the release is available. ---
