Hello I am new to the world of raspberry and balena sound I installed the hardware correctly, I use the Ethernet connection. I don’t have a DAC yet. Hi, can you let us know what you have tried? How are you trying to play the audio (bluetooth, Spotify, Airplay etc…) Is the device showing as online in balenaCloud? Are there any error messages in the console logs? Have you set any custom environment variables if required for your setup? Hi, we use [snapcast](https://github.com/badaix/snapcast) to add multiroom support. Looks like you are indeed using that since you have two devices set up. Can you try one thing? Disable multiroom support by [following these](https://github.com/balenalabs/balena-sound#multi-room) 6 instructions and check if the device is working as expected. ---

Hi, I think i might have the same problem here, but I get a static sound. I only get this problem when I try to play music through the 3.5 mm jack and not the HDMI port. The HDMI works great. I’ve tried to play both with spotify connect and bluetooth but neither works on the 3.5. I tried to disable multiroom but it didnt change anything, Im a total newbie, this being my first experince so i might have missed something obvious. Thanks in advance! ---

In order to force the sound to go through the 3.5mm jack you have to: - Remove the RESIN\_HOST\_CONFIG\_hdmi\_force\_edid\_audio, in case it’s set - Set RESIN\_HOST\_CONFIG\_hdmi\_ignore\_edid\_audio to 1 You can set a Configuration Variable in your device through Balena Cloud. Sorry, think i worded it wrong. It CAN play music through the hdmi when i have it connected but when I have the 3.5 jack connected it does immediately sound like a humming static tone. So the audio is not sent through the jack, only the tone. If I try to change the loudness of the music I’m trying to play on my phone it doesn’t change the sound that is coming out of my speakers. It does change if I’m turning the knob on my speaker. I tried to follow your instructions and then reboot the program but nothing have changed. But thats on me for bad wording. Hi there, just to clarify, are you certain that you have made those changes to the Variables that Georgia identified? If you on the Device Details page in balenaCloud, on the left hand side menu, click on Device Variables, and make sure they are entered there. Thanks. ---

“Disable multiroom support by following these 6 instructions…” Yeah, but there are no “6 instructions” at that link. I would like to know how to do this for real. I’m sure it’s here somewhere, but it isn’t at that link. ---
